Projects in the Works
The Lockport Township Park District would like to introduce the true benefits of recreation as we diligently launch several new projects which include:
- Dellwood West - Bike and walking trails to be accessed by a bridge over the I&M Canal.
- Prairie Bluff Sports Projects - Youth sports fields are to be phased in over multiple years. The project will include soccer fields, softball fields, playgrounds and walking trails.
- Prairie Bluff Preserve - A cooperative effort between the State of Illinois Department of Resources, the State Police, the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the Lockport Township Park District. The mission of the preserve is to save open space for passive and active recreational pursuits. This is the result of the diligent efforts of Representative Brent Hassert.
- Denick Demolition - With the construction of the new Challenge Fitness, it is time to say farewell to Denick Pool. The facility will be demolished and initially left as open space with future considerations to include additional parking opportunities.
- New Maintenance Facility - The Park District will relocate the park services maintenance facility to be adjacent to the golf course maintenance facility. This will offer a more efficient operation due to the sharing of resources and it will provide the Park District the room needed for its growing operations.
